VICTORIA HERNANDEZ (Voice & Piano)

EDUCATION:                        

At the young age of five, Victoria began to study the piano. She was fortunate to study with renowned instructors such as Boyanna Toyich & James Anagnoson (of the renowned piano duo Anangnoson & Kinton). Theoretical studies exposed her to professors such as: Bill Andrews, Joe Ringhofer, Molly Sclater, Earl Moss, James Lawless, Dr. Roman Toi & the late Dr. Samuel Dolin. She graduated from the Royal Conservatory of Music with First Class Honors Standing. These mentors substantially influenced Victoria`s realm & ultimate path.

Victoria’s vocal studies began while she was in her teens. Again, she was fortunate to study with reputable & prosperous instructors from across Canada, the US & Europe.   Her mentor in the these crucial years was the beautiful late Dixie Ross Neill (Montreal).   Operatic mezzo roles included: “Tisbet” in Rossini’s Cenerentola & “Mrs. Nolan” is Menotti’s opera The Medium.

 

EXAMINING & ADJUDICATING:

After completion of the Royal Conservatory of Music Examiner/Adjudicator program in 1990 with James Lawless, Victoria immediately began her post as Royal Conservatory of Music Practical & Theoretical Examiner.  Today, she maintains active with the College of Examiners.

Registered with Canadian Music Festival Adjudicators Association (CMFAA) for countless years, Victoria’s had the pleasure to adjudicate numerous competitions/festivals throughout the years:

PRIVATE TEACHING:

Aside from examining & adjudicating; Registered with the Ontario Registered Music Teacher`s Association, Victoria continues to teach piano, voice & theoretical subjects privately in her various studio locations across North America.

Victoria’s teaching methods have proven extremely successful throughout the years.  Her students not only receive highest standings in examinations, but also attain scholarships & awards from universities & competitions alike, year after year.

One of her prized vocal students graced European television as a finalist in Simon Cowell`s X-Factor—Greece 2009.  Another, landed the lead role in the Broadway show `Cinderella`--Toronto 2009.  Many of her select vocal students have gone on to successful recording/performing careers in the contemporary music industry.

WORKSHOPS/PRESENTATIONS:

She also is still active as a lecturer & clinician.  Her presentations of specialty are:
    1.  Vocal & stage Power
    2.  
    How the study of Voice compliments Instrumental Performance.

EDUCATIONAL COMPOSER/AUTHOR:

On a literary level, Victoria has published the following music books: Introductory Technique for Piano, Introductory Technique for Voice, The Adventures of Dino I, II,III & A Collection of Piano Pieces for Boys. Current project is a handbook with accompanying CD entitled: Vocal & Stage Power.

CONTEMPORARY SONGWRITING & PRODUCTION:

Lastly, on another note;At the age of 16, Victoria landed a writing/publishing agreement with a prosperous, local, independent record company. This exposed her to the commercial music industry & led her, in the year 1992, to establish her very own record, production & publishing company. She was also nominated for a Juno award.

   

Throughout the years, her abilities as writer, arranger, producer, vocalist & performer has landed her the recognition, topping charts in the US, winning Billboard’s Song Contest & attaining nominations for best female vocalist. In the summer of 2002, Victoria released a come-back album entitled “Together Forever” which charted internationally. Once she is settled in Miami, her plans to release a `Best of the Remixes`Album & new material are on the agenda.

  

She continues to be in high demand as a songwriter, arranger & producer.
